Submarines Association Australia Queensland Inc.
SAA QLD Inc Christmas Letter – December 2025
Dear Submarine Association members and colleagues,
This is the time of the year we are to spend with family and friends. We have lost too many members this year and I suppose it is manifestation of another trip around the sun and as we are getting older it is part of the cycle of life.
The time spent with family and friends should be cherished, remembered and appreciated. We can never get this time back, the time comes only once, so grab this time before it bypasses us all.
The passing year has seen a lot of us, re-connect with the association and my trip around regional Queensland meeting up with old friends and “new” friends has been in itself an adventure. We will continue to visit and welcome back old friends from the regions this coming year.
With modern technology (Zoom, email, Facebook and mobile phone) it is easier than ever to stay in touch and re-connect to friends and colleagues tell us the stories of your lives and travels. Using this technology to stay informed. The old adage that used to stop us, once referred to as ‘the tyranny of distance’ no longer applies. Our secretary, Tony Berhagen with the able assistance of Adrian ‘Pete’ Sellars and Alex Seizovic are working hard to revive our webpage and keep everyone informed of what is happening in the SAA QLD.
Alex has re-invigorated the social activities and social functions around the local area of the Gold Coast. This has included ‘Tex’ O’Grady inviting association members on his impressive motor vessel. Together with Billy, another ex-Navy man, combining his motor vessel to accommodate members for a day of cruising the Broadwater in February.
Chris Lewis is working hard to gather members in the Rockhampton/Yeppoon area to become more active as well. Then we have our new association treasurer getting settled around the FNQ region and opening up to re-connecting those members to the SAA Qld family.
This year, the RAN is the lead service in the Brisbane ANZAC Day march, and it should hopefully involve more SAA QLD members from Brisbane and representatives from the regions to boost our contingent representation. More of that latter.
On behalf of the Executive Committee, I extend to you all, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Most importantly enjoy your time with family and friends and have a safe time over this Holiday time. I know I will.
